You don't need more information.
You've read the articles. You've watched the YouTube videos. You've probably asked AI how to start investing. The information is everywhere.
What you're missing is the year of doing it.
The structure that turns scattered knowledge into a working portfolio. The accountability that gets you past the part where you save the article and never come back. And someone alongside you who has walked this road herself.
This is what Invest for Balance is built to deliver.
A lot of gyaan.
The Indian financial information landscape is full of advice. Economists explaining macro. Tax experts explaining nuances. Finfluencers explaining the next big thing. Bank advisors explaining why their product is right for you.
Most of it isn't built for where you actually are. It assumes you know things you don't, skips things you need, and rarely respects what you don't have time for.
Built differently.
I have exercised great restraint and judgment while creating this. Each part is short enough to fit into a life you already have. The seven parts cover what your journey actually needs, in the order it makes sense to learn them.
You hold the timing.
You decide your pace. The structure holds the order.
By the end of your twelve months, you have what you came for: a long-term portfolio you built, with me on screen for every step of it.
Who's behind this.
I'm Shonan Kothari. I live in Belgium and work in impact investing, where part of my job is writing our fund reports - which turns out to be an education in reading them. I hold the QPFP certification in Indian personal finance.
I tested it first.
A few years ago, I tested a research-backed, long-term investment approach for my own portfolio - in parallel to what one of India's leading wealth management firms recommended for the same money. After three years, my portfolio performed well, and that gave me confidence.
Why I built it.
I built Invest for Balance for the women in my life I wanted to give this framework to. Twenty years ago, I became the first working woman in my family. When I started earning, I had to figure this out the hard way. I wish I'd had a guide.
I don't predict markets. I read data and build clear methods. That's the work I'm offering.

Seven parts.
Parts 1 to 4: 25 lessons, over six and a half hours of video, with 8 resources and 4 Excel tools. Parts 5 to 7 build on that through early 2027.
Part 1 - Build the foundation
Part 2 - Know yourself
Part 3 - Understand your investment vehicles
Part 4 - Design your portfolio
Part 5 - Select your investments
Part 6 - Choose your platform and start investing
Part 7 - Stay the course
NRI members follow the same course, with 7 additional resources prepared for investing from Europe - accounts, tax, platforms, and the two-country portfolio - and more to come with Parts 5 to 7.
Why this, when AI gives me information.
Information is everywhere now. It was never the problem.
What you don't get from a chat window is the order - which piece to learn first, and why. Six and a half hours sat down with someone who has done this herself, in India and from Europe, and knows which details matter in your situation and which are noise. And a room of women working through the same thing alongside you.
That's the difference between knowing about investing and having a portfolio.
This is right for you if...
-
You've read about investing and you're ready to actually do it
-
You want to understand the why behind every decision, instead of just following others' recommendations
-
You value depth and accountability over shortcuts and tips
-
You're Indian or an NRI in Europe - and you want to better understand your real context
-
You have some time to commit to building this foundation
This is not right for you if you're looking for daily stock tips, day-trading strategies, or personal financial advice. I'm not a SEBI-registered investment adviser and Invest for Balance is not advisory work. It is financial education that gives you the foundation to make your own informed decisions, and ask the right questions of the professionals you consult - where needed.
